Mr. Ahmed Idris,
a Nigerian from Kano State was born on the 25th November, 1960. He
obtained his primary school leaving certificate in 1975 and West African School
Certificate in 1980 from Dandago Primary School, Kano and Kano Community
Commercial College respectively.
Mr.
Idris attended the famous School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University,
Zaria, during the 1980/1981 academic session for his IJMB (‘A’ Level
equivalent) Certificate, and got admitted into the degree programme of the
Institution in 1981, from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Accountancy in 1984. He later obtained Master of Business Administration
(MBA) and Master of International Affairs and Diplomacy Degrees from the Bayero
University, Kano and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1989 and 2006
respectively.
Mr.
Idris has acquired working experience as an Accountant with the organized
private sector (1985 – 1998) and the Federal Public Service (year 2000 till
date). In the Public Service, he had worked as Assistant Director
(Finance and Accounts) at the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF), National
Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) and Ministry of Police Affairs, as Deputy
Director (Finance and Accounts) at the Federal Ministry of Interior and
Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), as Director (Finance
and Accounts) at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and
Ministry of Mines and Steel Development before his appointment as the
Accountant-General of the Federation.
The AGF
in the course of duty has attended many courses locally and abroad which have
broadened his professional Horizon and enriched his competences.
Mr.
Idris has membership of many professional bodies. These includes: Fellow,
Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Associate
Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Associate
Member, Certified Institute of Cost Management of Nigeria, Fellow Financial
Analyst of Nigeria and Member, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
The
official recognition of Leadership qualities in the AGF commenced in 1980 as
the School Prefect in Kano Community Commercial College, Kano. Other Leadership
positions held includes: Secretary Accounting Students Association, A.B.U.
Zaria, Patron, National Association of Polytechnics Accountancy
Students (NAPAS), Member, Accounting Organizing Committee on Commissioning of
Houses built by Private Developers and Financed by the Federal Government Staff
Housing Loads board.
The AGF
had distinguished himself as a man of sterling work ethics from his
Youth. He had received awards/honours as follows: Diplomacy/Testimonial for
Academic Excellence and good conduct – 1980 from Kano Community Commercial
College, Employee of the month of February, 1992 – by Corporate Banking Division,
Continental Merchant Bank (CMBN) Plc and Most Diligent staff of the year
1992 – CMBN.
Mr.
Idris has time for regular leisure activities despite busy schedule. His
hobbies are Reading, Academic Discussion and Excursions. The new office he has
assumed will undoubtedly pave way for expression and execution of his
recommendations for effectiveness and enhanced service delivery in Public Funds
Management in Nigeria. He is a man groomed for the office/position he presently
occupies by maturity of age, education and cognate experience. He is a family
man, happily married with children.
